New HRC Horizontal Rope/Chain Windlass from Maxwell Marine
Date: 28 Jun 2004
Maxwell Marine recently introduced their all new horizontal rope/chain windlass at the 2004 Sanctuary Cove and New Zealand Boat Shows. The new HRC-6 and HRC-8 were enthusiastically received by the boating fraternity.
Primarily aimed at the trailer boat market, but capable of being used on light displacement vessels up to about 13 meters (42 feet), this all new product will delight the owners of boats with limited deck space and confined anchor lockers, where every cubic centimetre counts in terms of maximum rope/chain stowage.
Following on the global success of the revolutionary, vertical Freedom rope/chain anchor winch (refer report on our home page - "Maxwell's Freedom 500 Out Performs All Competitors), Maxwell has proudly introduced their compact horizontal rope/chain windlass series. The compact HRC-6 and HRC-8 are packed with new and proven features including the patented rode management technology developed for the revolutionary Freedom. The HRC Series is destined to equal the success of its renowned cousin.
These aesthetically pleasing above deck windlasses are constructed from high-pressure die cast, marine grade alloy and are effortlessly installed utilising a simple “bolt down” design. High speed, jam free retrieval of rope and chain is controlled from a remote, panel-mounted Up/Down switch control. The high efficiency 59:1 ratio straight cut, spur gearbox incorporates a robust non-backwind mechanism and incorporates an emergency, freefall function in the event of onboard power failure.
An integrated composite nylon through deck hawse pipe allows for ease of installation and smooth, snag free operation. The high quality chrome finished and innovative chainwheels are constructed of marine-grade alloy bronze and are suitable for use with either 6mm (1/4") or 8mm (5/16")short link chain and either 12mm (1/2") or 14mm (5/8") 3-strand or 8-Plait rope.
Standard equipment includes an up/down remote control panel, dual direction control system, circuit breaker/isolator panel and an emergency free fall activation lever.
